G20 Pick & Carry Crane is a machine of many talents!

Date: 20 January 2015

The G20, our smallest and slimmest pick and carry crane is one our most versatile machines.

This 2 tonne capacity battery powered micro machine is designed to lift glazing, cladding and machinery in the tightest of spots.

Here’s five examples of our G20 compact crane hard at work on a variety of lifting projects around the UK…

#1 Building Partition Walls

This G20 crane was hired with a DSZ2 Slimline vacuum lifter to install internal partition walls on this college construction site.

The 2 tonne capacity crane lifted each board from its stack before the 750kg capacity lifter tilted it and rotated it into a vertical position. The G20 then carried each of the long boards across the site to the installation points where personnel fixed them into place. Vacuum lifters can be used to lift coated boards as well as glass as they are non-porous and have a smooth surface.

The G20 was used with a Mini-Clad lifter on a similar job installing internal cold store cladding inside a warehouse.

#2 External Glazing

The G20 crane was combined with one of our most popular vacuum powered glass lifters to create the perfect team for taking on this low level glazing project in Preston city centre recently.

The crane was hired to lift and install a toggle glazed system around two elevations of a new commercial building. Fitted with a P11104 “Four-in-Line” below the hook glass sucker and short hook eye bolt, the crane lifted each 3 metre tall glass unit from a stillage then carried them over to the installation point.

The battery powered G20 pick and carry crane has a 935mm wide chassis and rear hydraulic 180° steering which means it could be easily manoeuvred around the congested and limited space between the building façade and the steel hoarding, which was just 2.2 metres wide at points.

A G20 was also used to install external glazing at this Roca bathroom showroom.

#3 Internal Glazing

A G20 compact crane was hired to install internal glazing inside the Richard Hoggart Building at Goldsmith’s College, University of London.

GGR’s crane fitted six 400kg glazed panels to internal corridor arches at the college using a Hydraulica 1000-A glass vacuum lifter.

At just 935mm wide, the battery powered G20 was ideal for working in this enclosed internal space. Read more about this glazing job at Goldsmith’s college here.

#4 Installing a Goods Lift

This G20 crane was used to install a temporary goods lift at a hospital recently. The crane worked in a very tight space on the ground floor, lifting parts down to basement level.

With the crane’s boom passing through the goods lift door, the G20 helped install the various parts such as the main base, platform, ancillaries and mast. As G20 crane is so small it could be easily stored safely on site overnight.

#5 Lifting at power station

This G20 pick and carry crane was hired to work at a National Grid substation in Kendal to lift a cleaning pig which cleans the gas pipelines at the facility.

The compact crane could easily reach the “pig launcher” and work closely enough to it to lift the 850kg unit into position. A G20 completed a similar job lifting a generator engine at this leisure centre.
