From new homes to traditional buildings, the new Pilkington energiKare™ family meets and exceeds the proposed changes to Part L of the Building Regulations for England and Wales in 2010, as well as giving your business the edge in a competitive marketplace.
The wide range in the Pilkington energiKare™ family helps windows in dwellings achieve high levels of energy efficiency to match the increasing demand from owners and developers of all types of homes. Where relevant, windows given a Window Energy Rating of a C or above are eligible for accreditation under the Energy Saving Trust’s Energy Saving Recommended Scheme. The scheme’s symbol has become a marker for consumers to identify which products, from washing machines to fridges, will save energy and money off their fuel bills, helping homeowners quickly grasp the concept that not all replacement windows are the same in energy efficiency terms. Introducing the new range: Pilkington energiKare™ Classic – the original highly successful unit, capable of achieving a minimum WER of a C in most framing systems and is twice as energy efficient as normal modern glazing. Windows containing Pilkington energiKare™ Classic exceeds all current building regulations and the expected minimum compliance for Part L of the Building Regulations (England and Wales) 2010.
Pilkington energiKare™ Plus – an upgrade from the original insulating glass unit which can achieve a WER of A or B depending on the framing system and allows windows to exceed current and future Part L of the Building Regulations (England and Wales) 2010 and 2013 Pilkington energiKare™ Triple – the choice for the best possible WER performance and highest levels of energy efficiency in low or zero carbon new homes. These high performance triple-glazed units optimise the balance between U-values and g-values to maximise energy efficiency and are capable of meeting the increasing requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) now and in the future without the need for soft coat options. Pilkington energiKare™ Legacy – using advanced Pilkington Spacia™ technology, this is the world’s first commercially-available vacuum glazing. It allows the installation of extremely thin glazing which can be fitted in older frames, maintaining the original appearance of traditional buildings and has four times better thermal insulation than single glazing.
Andy McDowell, National Business Development Manager, Pilkington, said: “This is a great opportunity to market and sell windows that achieve higher energy efficiency using relevant products from the Pilkington energiKare™ family. This ensures too that those windows will continue to meet and exceed the requirements of forthcoming changes to the Building Regulations in 2010. In addition, those window companies that partner with us to supply Pilkington energiKare™ family products also benefit from the full and comprehensive marketing campaign, including a dedicated website with a lead generating supplier finder, sales literature and technical support. Window companies are able to use the respected Pilkington brand within their own promotion and premises, whilst also benefiting from supplying a product that is easily recognised by homeowners.”
Pilkington energiKare™ Classic, Plus and Triple can also incorporate the new glass product Pilkington K Glass™ OW - the first development in the Pilkington K Glass™ range of energy efficient glazing products. Pilkington K Glass™ OW is an improved form of Pilkington K Glass™, the UK’s leading low emissivity glass product. Offering increased light transmission, improved solar gain and a brighter appearance, Pilkington K Glass™ OW helps to achieve improved Window Energy Ratings (WERs) in the greatest available range of profiles. So, when incorporated into the Pilkington energiKare™ system, Pilkington K Glass™ OW makes it even easier to produce A-rated windows. For more information visit www.pilkington.co.uk/energikare
