EK launches its EK STEEL Connect SC L steel connector at glasstec

Date: 17 October 2008

New evolution level creates connectors with strongest grip EDUARD KRONENBERG GmbH is creating considerable excitement in advance of the “glasstec“ trade fair in Düsseldorf, which opens on 21 October, with a new development level in spacer bar teeth design.

Designated the “SC L“, this is a completely new type of steel connector from the EK STEEL Connect series, which is even more resistant to bending forces and exhibits gripping properties that exceed the current maximum.

This has been made possible as a result of consistent improvements to EK’s sawtooth technology. The EK STEEL Connect SC L has eight bars on each side, each of which possesses three rows of teeth. This enables the SC L to extend its gripping force over the entire length. The sawtooth bars provide a secure grip throughout the inner space of the spacer bar profile. The spring tongues bite into the nylon profile to provide an additional equalisation of the profile tolerance. This innovative straight connector gives the profile an almost inseparable bond and thus withstands the highest possible bending forces.

The EK STEEL Connect SC L is available in a desiccant passage version and has been designed for climate-friendly Warm Edge nylon profiles. The large longitudinal holes enable a Georgian bar profile to be inserted at the connecting point at a later date.

“Due to its thin walls and high-strength material properties, the SC L enables the subsequent filling of the desiccant passage with molecular sieve to be performed extremely efficiently,“ says Ralf M. Kronenberg. “We use electrolytically galvanised, micro-alloyed cold-rolled steel for its manufacture. It is also available with a black surface for use in dark-coloured spacer bars on request.“

The desiccant passage version of the EK STEEL Connect straight connector with additional support for Warm Edge nylon profiles will be presented to the public for the first time at glasstec 2008 and will be on display exclusively on EDUARD KRONENBERG GmbH’s stand in Hall 15 (Stand G33) and on the stand of TECHNOFORM GLASS INSULATION GmbH (TGI), which is also in Hall 15 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from 21 October 2008.

As a manufacturer operating on a global scale at the forefront of the market for stamped and plastic parts, EDUARD KRONENBERG GmbH provides customers all over the world with standardised and tailor-made solutions.

EK is the only supplier to the insulating glass industry in a position to offer both steel and nylon connectors parts from one source. For the electrical, automotive and fastener industries, and manufacturers in Solingen, EK also offers tailor-made solutions for stamping, bending and plastic technologies.
