Together they have developed a unique, environment-friendly coating for solar panels. This antireflective layer on the glass ensures that more light reaches the solar cells, which increases the electricity output of the panels by 3 to 5%.With this development Ducatt once again demonstrates its innovative strength and confirms its ambition to become the worldwide reference in the field of glass for the solar energy sector.Together with the engineers of 3M, an authority in the field of eco-innovation, Ducatt has succeeded in developing a water-based antireflective coating. This means no air-polluting elements are released by the coating either during manufacture or during fitting, unlike all existing antireflection coatings that use environmentally harmful solvents.
With this revolutionary development Ducatt is definitely not a novice in the field of research & development. In 2012 the company was the first glass producer in the world to offer 2 mm toughened flat glass for solar panels. The new antireflection coating on this ultra-transparent glass results in an energy gain of 3 to 5%.
“I am delighted to be able to share this here today”, beams Roel Bollen, founder and commercial director of the company based in Lommel, Belgium. “This new product is cutting edge technologically and we already notice in our order book that this innovation is being accepted in the market. We can therefore certainly call it a technological and commercial success.”
