Dr. Andreas Wolf Honored with ASTM International Sealants Hall of Fame Award

Dr. Andreas Wolf, scientist at Dow Corning GmbH in Wiesbaden, Germany, is the recipient of the Lou Toporcer Hall of Fame Award from ASTM International Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants.

Wolf was recognized for “distinguished service in the area of building seals and sealants and for

contributions to the stimulation of research, promotion of knowledge and exceptional service to the building seals and sealants industry and ASTM Committee C24.

” Wolf, who joined ASTM International in 1989, serves on Committee C24 as well as Committee G03 on Weathering and Durability. In his more than 25 years with the Dow Corning Corp., Wolf has held various scientist and managerial positions, specializing in insulating glass sealants, structural glazing/structural bonding, durability of sealants and adhesives, and adhesion theory and measurement. He has lectured extensively in Europe, North America and Asia, and is the author of more than 120 technical publications. The holder of 18 patents, Wolf has served as editor of seven books on the various aspects of sealant chemistry, durability, testing and applications and has chaired multiple international scientific symposia. In addition to ASTM International, Wolf is a member of the International Organization for Standardization, the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures and the German Chemist Association.



A graduate of Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, where he received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in chemistry, Wolf holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf, Germany. Established in 1898, ASTM International is one of the largest international standards

development and delivery systems in the world. ASTM International meets the World Trade Organization (WTO) principles for the development ofinternational standards: coherence, consensus, development dimension, effectiveness, impartiality, openness, relevance and transparency.
