TGO is supported by some of the most well known manufacturing companies in the glazing sector, including Pilkington Glass, and can boast a Register of Businesses that includes some of the biggest national suppliers such as Anglian, Safestyle UK and Zenith.TGO became an accredited Ombudsman in April 2012 and is the only accredited ombudsman in the glazing sector.
TGO Registered businesses operate in accordance with its Code of Practice, giving their customers confidence and peace of mind.
The purpose of TGO is to provide a binding result to a dispute between a consumer and a registered business without the costly involvement of the legal system.
The Ombudsman’s role is to provide redress which means that his awards are intended to put consumers back into the position they were before the event leading to the dispute occurred.
Where a complaint is upheld, TGO can award compensation in various forms. This could be as simple as an apology, a recommendation to rectify workmanship or a financial award. In practice the average financial award is likely to be similar to amounts awarded by Small Claims Courts, with the maximum award of £25,000 being awarded only in highly exceptional circumstances, where proven financial loss and/or extreme levels of avoidable distress, aggravation and inconvenience have occurred.
Could this be an example of a highly exceptional circumstance?
