BP has announced that it is building the world's most environmentally friendly service station in Hornchurch, Essex.

The new BP Connect retail site - which is set to open in December - will feature an array of innovative green initiatives that demonstrate BP's continuing commitment to environmental responsibility. All of BP Hornchurch Connect's energy requirements will be met by renewable energy. The site will generate up to half of its own power, using solar panels installed on the roofs of the canopy and shop, and three wind turbines. The remainder will be purchased through London Electricity Plc's Green Tariff, which is part of the power company's long-term efforts to develop renewable resources.
