On May 22, national glass stakeholders from all over Europe gathered in Brussels to participate in the Annual meeting between national glass and glazing associations and Europe’s flat glass industry organised by Glass for Europe.

Over the recent years, the meeting has become a key event for all European representatives of the flat glass industry and sector. During this workshop, Glass for Europe provides national associations with a complete overview of all issues of interest and importance for the flat glass sector.

It allows to present, explain and exchange on the rationales behind the industry policy positions and priorities at European level. The main objective is to bring people together, to create a dynamic of exchange and to empower all sector representatives with similar level of information on EU legislations, their importance and the necessary cooperation between EU and national advocacy efforts.

Glass stakeholders had the opportunity to exchange views on dossiers such as the Emission Trading Scheme ETS, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and the Circular Economy Package.  The need for coordinating actions at EU and national level was stressed, particularly now that many of the EU directives will have to be implemented in the Member States.

On the occasion of this annual meeting, Glass for Europe issued its Implementation guidance note on the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and launched its new website.

Companies and National Associations present at the workshop included AGC Glass Europe, British Glass, Bundesverband Flachglas, BVGlas, Fédération des Chambres Syndicales des Industries du Verre, GBO / Bouwend Nederland, Guardian, Saint-Gobain Glass, Siseçam, VGI-FIV and ZPPS.
