For several days, the leaders of glass enterprises, research and educational institutions jointly solved the complex issues necessary for the successful development of the glass industry.
Experts from 11 countries presented their achievements for review and discussion.
The report on the goals of the modern glass industry was made by Osipov Viktor Ivanovich, president of the StekloSouz Association of Russia.
He said that in the program for the development of the Russian glass industry, which was approved in 1999, the main task was import substitution. imported glass products reached 63%.
There was a need to modernize all glassmaking factories and convince investors that the glass industry represents great economic opportunities.
Over the period from 2000 to 2010, the industry was able to more than double its own production. Including production of flat glass: from 86 million m2 to 190 million m2.
No less successfully developed and industrial processing of glass, for various sectors of the national economy.
In accordance with the state strategy for the development of the building materials industry until 2020, in 2016 the glass market was planned to deliver 300 million m2 of sheet glass, and by 2020 at least 500 million m2.
In this period, the state expected to put into operation 100 million and 140 million meters of housing, respectively. However, the global crisis made significant adjustments.
To maintain production capacity it was necessary to focus efforts on the export of glass. As a result, by 2018, exports reached 60 million m2.
The Russian glass industry has mastered the production of new types of glass products: energy-efficient, fire-resistant, noise-absorbing and other new import-substituting species.
