The 24th International Congress on Glass was held in Shanghai International Convention Center in Lujiazui district of Pudong from April 7th to 11th

More than 800 scientific and technical workers of glass industry from 33 countries exchanged the latest research results and discussed future development trend of glass. Peng Shou, former president of ICG, chair of the ICG Congress 2016, chair of advisory committee of ICG, vice president of The Chinese Ceramic Society, general manager of Triumph Technology Group Company, board chairman and president of CTIEC, was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award of ICG President by unanimous vote of ICG for the remarkable contributions he has made to the development of glass technology for both China and the rest of the world.

In the congress there were 8 plenary talks, 87 invited talks, 318 general oral presentations and 103 poster sessions and famous scholars and people of business circles at home and abroad, including professor Russell, director of Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light and father of photonic crystal fiber, professor Dianov, member of Russia’s Academy of Science and inventor of Bi-doped fiber laser, professor Gan Fuxi, member of Chinese Academy of Science, and professor Peng Shou, director of State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Float Glass gave reports.
