Prior to the conference, the BEC Technical Committee meets to discuss issues of advancement, innovation and technologies in the building envelope industry.It is during this meeting that Mr. McFarland will present "The Benefits of BIM for Curtain Wall".
Jon McFarland is a detail-oriented technical professional who has performed work in the architectural and construction fields for many years. Jon has a strong background in 2D drawings, 3D drawings, 3D models and animations, and CAD quality control. He has written and edited books on computer graphics and AutoCAD. He has taught AutoCAD, Revit, and other computer graphics programs at the college level. He serves as BIM Coordinator for Wheaton Sprague Building Envelope, where he is responsible for overall BIM leadership and course-setting for the firm for this prevalent technology.
Wheaton Sprague is chartered as a professional engineering company providing design, engineering and consulting services for the Building Envelope and Curtainwall Industry to clients throughout the United States and in some off-shore markets.
A BIM (Building Information Modeling) model for a curtain wall, or building's exterior cladding system, is a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of that system. The model represents the definitive and authoritative guidelines from which the construction contractors and subcontractors will build with minimal deviation.
