Vitro Introduces Hydroclean™ by DFI Nanotech with World's First Jumbo-Size CVD Chamber

Date: 2 September 2013

DFI's Turn-Key CVD Chamber is Implemented at Vitro's Plant in Mexico. - Vitro Becomes First Glass Producer to Launch Diamon-Fusion® 3D Chamber System for Architectural Flat Glass.

Diamon-Fusion International, Inc. (DFI Nanotechnology), global developer and exclusive licensor of patented hydrophobic nanotechnologies, announced today announced today the introduction of Vitro's new easy-to-clean nanocoating HydroClean™ by DFI while recently implementing the world's first jumbo-size 3D chamber of its kind ( to treat all sides and edges of the glass), acquired by Vitro Vidrio y Cristal, SA de CV, flat glass business unit of Vitro S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: VITROA).This new launch by Vitro represents the full adoption of DFI's multi-functional protective glass coating by one of the world's largest glass manufacturers. In addition, Vitro becomes the first glass producer to launch the DFI 3D Chamber System for Architectural Flat Glass.

Utilizing DFI's 3D Chamber System with HydroClean, Vitro can coat thousands of square feet of glass on both sides and all exposed edges of the glass in less than an hour, all while reducing costs up to 75% versus hand-applied coatings. Each piece of glass is entirely coated with the patented HydroClean by DFI coating, making them highly water and oil repellent, harder to stain, easier to clean, impact and scratch resistant (reducing transportation and handling damage), and more brilliant. The DFI 3D Chamber System offers the most cost-effective, high-quality application process in the world.

Founded in 1909, Vitro, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: VITROA), is the leading glass manufacturer in Mexico, and one of the largest in the world, backed by more than 100 years of experience in the industry. Headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, the Company has subsidiaries in the Americas, through which it offers high quality products and reliable services that address the needs of two distinct businesses: glass containers and flat glass. Vitro provides excellent solutions to a variety of industries, including: food, beverages, wines & spirits, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical, as well as the automotive and architectural markets. Vitro is one of the leading companies in the world serving the automotive and construction industries. Vitro's flat glass products and services are present in North, Central, and South American markets, as well as those of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Alberto Hernandez Tellez, Director of Flat Glass Business of Vitro, stated: "DFI's CVD coating system provides an unparalleled industrial flexibility while adding value to our new HydroClean Glass. DFI has a solid track-record with a proven and patented coating technology, a truly robust process and  unique capability of treating the entire glass, in a 3D fashion, like no other coating. The ability for us to coat a jumbo-size glass sheet, coupled with the overall cost-effectiveness of DFI's CVD process made our decision very easy as we have found, quite frankly, no other viable option that comes even close to DFI's multiple benefits."

Guillermo Seta, Corporate Vice President and Executive Director of DFI, added: "Having Vitro, one of the world's largest glass producers, implement our first-ever Jumbo-size CVD chamber system is truly a milestone for our company. It also speaks by itself about our consistency in, year after year, providing the glass industry with not only the most ample industrial flexibility but also the required scalability, to any-size company, by getting started with our hand-applied coating systems to then 'graduate' to our chamber process when volumes justify such higher initial investment."
