STS offers more abrasion resistance and durability without endangering glass quality, and using STS fabrics on components can lower a customer’s maintenance time and equipment downtime, preventing lost production.
Pyrotek’s Pyrotherm STS ropes, tapes and felts are cut with extreme precision to achieve safe glass contact. The tapes are designed to be used as a buffer material for the conveyor pusher or lehr stacker bar in the container glass manufacturing process. Pyrotek also makes custom sewn products, such as vacuum pick-up pads and hot glass ware transfer pads.
Applications for STS fabrics are many: Custom-made take out inserts (mainly for tableware manufacturers), pusher fingers or sweep-outs (from tiny flex pushers to huge pockets for big jars), ware guides, various designs of transfer wheel fingers or pads, stacker bar inserts, complete pockets or even entire sections of stacker bars.
Pyrotherm STS products are temperature resistant and designed to work for long periods of time at 650°C (1200°F). They are wear resistant while also compressible, resistant to oil contamination and non-marking to hot glass. The unique welding process developed by Pyrotek specifically for our STS hot glass ware handling product line ensures the glass contact materials remain securely and permanently fastened—no more dealing with checks caused by loose pads due to failing screws or adhesives.
Ropes are available in 4–10 millimetre (0.2–0.4 inch) diameters, while tapes are available in 2–5 millimetre (0.1–0.2 inch) thicknesses and 20–80 millimetres (0.8–3 inches) in width.
Pyrotek is able to customize most parts and develop different designs to match any customer’s need, in terms of strength or weight. We can replicate an existing component or offer solutions through new configurations. Pyrotek’s global network of application engineers works with customers to determine which materials and component configurations will best suit a customer’s need.
