New large-format frameless module designed specifically for large-scale tracking systemsSOLAR POWER INTERNATIONAL - DALLAS, TX and FREMONT, Calif., OCT. 17, 2011 – Solaria Corporation, a global manufacturer of solar photovoltaic modules, today announced a new 270 Watt solar module designed and optimized for industrial and utility-scale tracking applications.

Shipping today, the 1 x 1.9 meter frameless module features Solaria's proven technology that optimizes the use of standard crystalline PV.

Solaria modules are the first PV module with form factor, mounting system, and installation processes optimized for tracking systems. The modules can be installed on single axis horizontal, dual axis and azimuth solar trackers using conventional installation methods.

"Solaria's customers –utilities, independent power producers, and other energy providers– are looking for solid reliability and high performance," said Solaria CEO Dan Shugar. "Our innovative technology is enabling Solaria to deliver a premium product that will improve the economics of large, commercial, industrial and utility-scale solar power plants."

"Due to the high demand for our panels, we are rapidly expanding our manufacturing," said Solaria President Suvi Sharma. "We've been winning business around the world, and are currently shipping to projects in the U.S., Asia, South America and Europe."

"Our frameless modules were designed from the beginning to improve system economics and system performance," added Kevin Gibson, Solaria CTO. "The optical glass is very strong and robust, enabling us to eliminate the added complexity and expense of a frame. Because our technology uses silicon cells more efficiently, Solaria modules use significantly less crystalline material than comparable standard modules. In addition, our modules follow industry standards for mounting and connectivity, reducing system installation costs."

Solaria's high-efficiency modules are also available in a complete, integrated tracker package. The Solaria STS-1 solar tracking system combines modules, trackers, and expert design services to optimize system performance and deliver high energy yield.

Solaria frameless modules are certified to UL 1703 and IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 flat-plate standards, and have the smallest carbon footprint and fastest energy payback of any silicon-based panel. Solaria modules are now available to customers in North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.
