Solaglas to Glassolutions rebrand strengthens solutions focus

Date: 27 March 2012

Solaglas – the largest processor, distributor, installer and repairer of glass and glass systems - has rebranded to become GLASSOLUTIONS.

The announcement comes as the company introduces a new range of innovative glazing solutions at the UK’s biggest eco-building exhibition and launches its new website at www.glassolutions.co.uk .

The change from Solaglas to GLASSOLUTIONS reflects the company’s role as a solutions provider in glass to the glazing, architectural, construction and building maintenance markets in the UK and more closely aligns it with other glass-based organisations within the Saint-Gobain Group worldwide.

The Saint-Gobain Group, of which Glassolutions is a part, has also confirmed a £100 million investment programme as it takes glass to the next dimension, turning it from a passive to an active component in the drive towards improved sustainability in building.

GLASSOLUTIONS operates from 25 bases in the UK and employs over 1200 people.  It operates in two main divisions – Glassolutions Installation, which is the UK’s leading glass repairer for the insurance and commercial sectors, and Glassolutions Solaglas, which serves sealed unit manufacturers, door and window fabricators and installers and the architectural glazing market across the UK.

Says GLASSOLUTIONS marketing director Mike Butterick: “We draw on the strength of the worldwide resources of the €40.1billion turnover Saint-Gobain Group and work closely with our colleagues in the GLASSOLUTIONS business stream - so it makes absolute sense to reflect that more visibly in our UK operations.  In the past 12 months we have seen on-going investment in new plant and products of around £2.2 million in the UK alone.

“Increasingly, alongside the vigorous product innovations programme, our business is about excellent service provision.  Under the new GLASSOLUTIONS banner in the UK we intend to strengthen our market position as the leading glass service and solutions provider.”

The change comes as the company launches a range of innovative glass solutions at Ecobuild 2012, and builds on the success of its “Ecoclear with Planitherm inside” launch last year.

New products resulting from the co-operation with other European GLASSOLUTIONS businesses include the launch of innovative internal glazing options, building integrated photovoltaic glazing systems (BIPV) for generating clean electricity and Electrochromic glass which provides active solar shading at the flick of a switch.

Says Mike Butterick: “The switch from Solaglas to GLASSOLUTIONS has been well received internally.  The GLASSOLUTIONS team across the UK is fervently behind our ambitious service-improvement programme.  We are now determined to press home the major market advantages we have in the UK and ensure that GLASSOLUTIONS becomes synonymous with excellent product and service among our growing UK customer base.”

The tagline – “Your glass. Our world” – reflects this customer focus and the global sustainability commitment of the GLASSOLUTIONS approach.

The new website, which has taken over six months to develop, contains detailed product and technical information, news and case studies as well as a new “knowledge centre” featuring a number of interactive tools to help manufacturers, specifiers and homeowners choose the right glass solution.
