Raytheon chooses Pilkington

Pilkington Aerospace has received an order from Raytheon, representing the FY03 requirement for the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS) advanced trainer aircraft.

Raytheon continues to be delighted by the quality of Pilkington's product, in particular its optics.The first production JPATS flew in 1998, and since then, more than 130 have been produced.This is the last option year of the initial programme award and Pilkington Aerospace has been the exclusive OE supplier.Providing it remains competitive, it will retain the primary supplier position for more than 400 aircraft to be delivered through 2006.

The programme is intended to run through to 2009 and will include more than 900 aircraft.
