As part of its “Innovation Zone” at the company’s GlassBuild booth (#1127), EnergyQuest will give those manufacturers looking to redesign and retool their products additional options to achieve the proposed 2014 U-factors from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
“For some manufacturers, meeting the new ENERGY STAR standards will be relatively simple, but for some with older designs, it may require an entirely new window system,” said Mark Gallant, senior product marketing manager, Quanex Building Products. “With our EnergyQuest system, we’re helping our customers meet the new standards by providing a high-performance system at a fair price point. This will be especially important for those struggling to accommodate the change for the Northern zone target U-factor of 0.25-0.27 or those designing windows to meet the new ENERGY STAR "most efficient" tier of 0.18 - 0.20.”
Available in double-hung, single-hung, slider, patio door, casement and picture window options, EnergyQuest is designed to accommodate either double- or triple-glazed insulating glass units up to 1 1/8-inch thick, and will be offered with or without an extruded nail fin for fast and easy installation. It will also come standard with Quanex’s exclusive SuperCoat™ UV-cured technology, a color coating that is seven times harder than competitive paint options, making it the most durable applied coating available for PVC windows and doors. SuperCoat is available in six colors, including black, architectural bronze, brick red, adobe, hunter green and gray.
“Working with our OEM partners, we identified an opportunity to create a high-performance window system that will provide the market with long-term energy savings, versatility, and aesthetic appeal,” Gallant said. “In addition to our exclusive, top performance EnergyCore™ fusion-insulated window system, we can now offer customers a mid-range window and door system with multiple accessory options that ideally targets replacement applications.”
At its GlassBuild booth, Quanex will also feature other new innovations from its Window & Door Systems, IG Systems and Engineered Components groups, including the Top-Hung Extruded Patio Screen Door. The system provides a smooth interface with an aluminum track head and is universally designed to easily mount to either vinyl or wood patio doors.
