PPG Industries is committing additional resources to its performance sunwear, thin films and materials business and is engaging Dan Klamut, an industry veteran in the ophthalmic lens and sunlens industry, to help with business development and special projects.

Klamut has held operational and commercial positions within the optical industry for more than 20 years and was involved in the initial development and commercial launch of polycarbonate lenses. He worked with leading sunwear producers on various sunlens development projects and managed the sunwear division for a lens manufacturer. Most recently, Klamut served as president and chief executive officer of INDO's (Barcelona) North American operation.

“We are delighted to be able to leverage Dan’s expertise to develop our performance sunlens business,” said Rick Elias, PPG vice president, optical products. “With last year’s acquisition of Intercast, and with the new products being launched by our thin films group, International Polarizer, we are excited about the opportunities and added service we will be able to offer the market and our customers.”
