This honor acknowledges PPG Tianjin’s public disclosure of environmental information for three years, promotion of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs among other enterprises in TEDA, and full support for the establishment of a regional environmental protection mechanism.
“Recognition of the concerns and needs of society is a key corporate value of PPG," said Richard Ren, PPG director of environment, health and safety, Asia/Pacific. "It guides the company's establishment of new plants in China and other countries around the world. We are committed to sustainable development and hope that our 'green' efforts encourage more companies to take the initiative to disclose their environmental-impact information and fulfill their social responsibility.”
Every year, PPG earmarks funds for environmental protection initiatives such as pollution prevention and reduction, reduced resource consumption, and waste recovery and disposal. Also, PPG responded quickly to the Chinese government’s call to raise public awareness of environmental protection by establishing “environmental classrooms,” strengthening its internal communication and organizing events enabling every employee to raise environmental awareness and engage in environmental-protection initiatives.
PPG earned the China CSR Award as well as a prize for Multinational Corporation’s Contribution to China in June 2011. Previously, PPG was recognized among the 2008 Excellent Cases of Multinational Corporations Fulfilling Social Responsibility, it won an award for Multinational Corporation’s Contribution to China’s 30 Years of Reform and Opening-up, and it earned the 2009 Award for Multinational Corporation’s Contribution to China as well as the 2010 China Energy Conservation Award and the 2010 CSR Award – Special Prize.
