Online education center, eView specification tool to be highlighted - PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) will display SOLARBAN® 67 glass, a new solar control, low-emissivity (low-e) glass, and two online glass education and specification tools during GlassBuild America, the Glass, Window and Door Expo, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Sept. 10-12.  STARPHIRE® ultra-clear glass, INTERCEPT® Blackline warm-edge spacers, CLARVISTA® shower glass and dual-pane insulating glass units (IGUs) with R-5 center of glass insulating performance also will be highlighted. To learn more about all of the products below, visit PPG in booth 1427 during GlassBuild America, the Glass, Window and Door Expo, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Sept. 10-12.SOLARBAN(R) 67 glass by PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) is formulated with a unique low-emissivity, double-silver, magnetron-sputtered vacuum deposition (MSVD) coating that accurately reflects the timbre and brightness of ambient light and color.Solarban 67 glass features a soft, virtually imperceptible, neutral coating that gives commercial buildings a brilliantly clear appearance that accurately reflects the tone and brightness of ambient light and color.

The double-silver, magnetron-sputtered vacuum deposition (MSVD) coating also delivers excellent solar control performance, with visible light transmittance (VLT) of 54 percent in a 1-inch IGU and a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.29, which results in a light-to-solar gain (LSG) ratio of 1.85. Solarban 67 glass has low interior and exterior reflectivity, which further enhances its clarity.

CLARVISTA(R) glass by PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) is a highly transparent and durable glass for shower doors and enclosures made with a proprietary PPG coating that seals the glass surface, enabling it to resist corrosion caused by heat, humidity, soap and household cleaning products. Clarvista glass is available with conventional clear glass or STARPHIRE(R) ultra-clear glass by PPG. When combined with Starphire glass, Clarvista glass produces a highly transparent shower glass, making it ideal for upscale homes, resorts and commercial spas.

PPG also will highlight two online education and specification tools. The PPG Glass Education Center helps architects, specifiers and construction professionals learn more about designing, specifying and building with glass. It is divided into three sections – Glass Topics, Glass FAQs and Glossary – and houses a mix of instructive video shorts, colorful illustrations and educational features addressing issues such as how low-e glass works, preventing thermal glass breakage and specifying large IGUs. New content is added regularly.

The second online tool, PPG Glass eView, enables architects and specifiers to construct glass units on-screen to their desired performance and aesthetic specifications, then to view them in a variety of room and outdoor settings. The glass units can be manipulated in three dimensions so tool users can see the units’ color, thickness, light transmittance (transparency), and interior and exterior reflectivity. Users can also compare performance data.

PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) offers a sample kit highlighting the color and clarity differences between extra-heavy STARPHIRE(R) ultra-clear glass and conventional clear architectural glass. PPG stocks Starphire ultra-clear glass as a standard inventory item in 15- and 19-millimeter thicknesses.

SUNGATE® 600 and Solarban 60 glasses will be featured as part of a dual-pane IGU that enables residential window manufacturers to achieve R-5 insulating performance without triple glazing. Another residential window product, Intercept Blackline warm-edge spacers, combines exceptional insulating performance and unobstructed views by fitting neatly below the window’s sightlines.

Samples of Starphire ultra-clear glass also will be available for viewing, both as a stand-alone commercial glass product and as part of a display for Clarvista shower glass, which is formulated with a fused-on coating that makes it resistant to corrosion caused by heat, humidity, soap and chemicals in household cleaning products. When combined with Starphire glass, Clarvista glass produces a highly transparent shower glass that is ideal for upscale homes, resorts and commercial spas.

Visitors also can pick up the new PPG Glass Catalog, which has been updated to include Solarban R100, Solarban 72 and Solarban 67 glasses as well as Sungate 600 glass. To learn more, visit PPG in booth 1427, call 1-888-PPG-IDEA (772-4332) or visit www.ppgideascapes.com.
