Pilkington Insulight™ IGUs incorporating Pilkington Suncool™ have been installed as part of the award-winning Lloyd Building project at Trinity College, Dublin.

The construction, which took 15 months in total to complete, utilises Pilkington Insulight™ IGUs with Pilkington Suncool™ and Pilkington Optilam™ to the windows, lighting and the roof.

Robert Payne, from Cullen Payne Architects, the practice behind the project said: “We specified Pilkington because we needed a high performance solar control glass and Pilkington Suncool™ was ideal for this building as it protects occupants against solar glare. The building is East West facing and has no natural shade but by using Pilkington Suncool™ we have been able to create a more comfortable interior and yet allow natural light to flood the building.”

Pilkington Suncool™ is a range of superior solar control products with high visible light transmittance to suit each requirement and low emissivity in one coated product. Pilkington Suncool™ offers the highest level of thermal insulation and has a range of colour options - allowing for large areas of glazing to control solar gain whilst also providing high light levels.

The brand new building, paid for by Government funding, is complete with four 150-seat lecture theatres and is equipped with high tech multi-media systems. The world renowned research centre is made up of several different scientific research departments combining Neuroscience, Computer Science, Statistics and HPC science (High Performance Computing).
