Pilkington has built on the success of the manufacture and sales of Pilkington Cervoglass™ conservatory roof IGUs at Pilkington Aintree by opening an additional manufacturing facility in the South of England employing 34 people.

The new facility, based in Basingstoke, will be equipped with a modern IGU line, gas filling and toughening plant and will produce the full range of the popular Pilkington Cervoglass™ IGUs, allowing Pilkington to double its current capacity. Dave Storer, Conservatory Sector Sales Manager for Pilkington, said: “Basingstoke is ideally placed to service the South East, South West and South Coast, enabling Pilkington Cervoglass™ to be supplied on a truly national basis; complementing that of Pilkington Aintree in the North. The new facility will allow us to continue delivering quality products with quick response times and excellent service direct to site.

“Pilkington Cervoglass™ conservatory roof units are now available with a standard U-value of 1.1 for our top specification products, so installers and homeowners can benefit from the most energy efficient conservatory glazing. Our unique offering gives Pilkington Cervoglass™ conservatory installers the opportunity to add value to their products in a competitive market place by supplying homeowners with product features to suit specific needs; for example the orientation of their conservatory. The benefit to homeowners is a more comfortable environment in their conservatory for more days of the year when compared to other glazing, offering increased comfort all year round!”

Administration for the Pilkington conservatory operation in Basingstoke will be through the dedicated expert team at Aintree, as they prepare for increased levels of business expected in the summer and autumn.

To support the increased capacity potential, Pilkington has unveiled a new double-decker truck trailer to improve the delivery time for transporting glass from North to South. The upgrade of the trailer means deliveries can be conveniently made overnight for morning deliveries to customers and the new mechanical lifting neck to the top level improves safety when loading..

This new facility contributes to a seamless expansion of the business, whilst customers can continue their usual order process through Pilkington Aintree. They will however benefit from an increased level of quality, service and reliability that the expansion will bring.
