The new Director General of the CBI, Richard Lambert, toured Pilkington Greengate on his first official visit to the North West since taking office at the beginning of July.

Accompanied by the Regional Director for the North West, Damien Waters, Mr Lambert discussed energy usage with UK manufacturing manager Ron Hamilton and Paul McKeon, operations and technology director worldwide.

"Richard found the visit very useful and took away a lot of interesting messages about energy processes and the issues faced by industry," said Mr Waters. "The Director General chairs a committee with Government energy minister Malcolm Wicks and was anxious to visit energy intensive industries to learn about their experience and concerns."
