Developed by Moscow staff Lola Ivanova and Victoria Borisova, assisted by Mervi Paappanen of the Finnish sales team from a brief by marketing communications manager Stephen Lipscombe, the stand earned diplomas for both overall design and final appearance from the exhibition organisers.Glass World also marked the launch of Pilkington's new Russian company, Pilkington Distribution and Sales Limited.Supported by a leased warehouse in St Petersburg, due to become operational this month (July), customers in Russia will soon be able to buy glass in roubles on a delivered duty paid basis with considerably shorter lead times.
PDSL is expected to significantly increase float glass sales to Russia. Glass will be supplied from Sweden and Germany and particular emphasis will be placed on growing sales of Pilkington K Glass to meet the Russian need for high levels of thermal insulation. Vast distances for glass delivery also make a hard coated glass a more practical option for distribution.
Sales support is being handled by Margus Kivi, Robert Podsialdo and Markku Laiho whilst a permanent team is recruited. The warehouse set up in St Petersburg has been masterminded by Simon Hackett backed by the Customer Service team in Sweden and Finland. Warehouse layout and training support is being provided by Ian Worsley and software and systems support from Barry Peacock.
