Jeld-Wen's savior materialized Monday in the form of Onex Corp., a Canadian firm that injected $871 million to revive the window-and-door company bloodied by the housing market crash.
Onex, betting on the global housing market's eventual recovery, announced that it had completed its takeover of Klamath Falls-based Jeld-Wen. The Toronto private-equity firm gained a 58 percent stake in Oregon's largest privately held company.
The deal ends family control of the business co-founded by Dick Wendt, who died last year after building the enterprise into a multibillion-dollar venture operating in 22 countries.
