The new system, produced with unique Pilkington Pyroclear®, an advanced toughened glass, offers floor-to-ceiling fire resistance with integrity performance using monolithic panes of standard soda-lime-silica glass, making them the first solutions of their kind to be used without the need for vertical framing.
Stephen Bond, customer support manager for fire protection products said: “The new Pilkington Pyroclear® Line products satisfy a real demand in the market for striking interior glass screens that meet integrity requirements (acc. to. BS EN 13501-2).
“The recently obtained test evidence for a 30-minute system (acc. to BS EN 1364) that doesn’t require the use of any button fixings between panes gives a truly unobstructed view, meaning that architects no longer have to compromise on aesthetics to achieve the ultimate in fire protection.
“We’ve also successfully produced a 60-minute integrity system with button-fixings (acc. to BS 476), offering an increased period of reliable basic fire protection.
“Feedback from the building sector about Pilkington Pyroclear® Line has been particularly positive, especially from fabricators working in commercial office space, where fire-resistant frameless glass partitioning is becoming an increasingly desirable design feature.
“The new products build on the established success of the existing range by offering end-users advanced levels of fire safety and are a clear example of the innovation that’s coming out of our in-house R&D centre dedicated to fire protection products.
“We’re consistently driven to produce the best in glazing performance and design products that directly respond to the building sector’s demands and for that reason we’re pleased to be able to present these new systems.”
Pilkington Pyroclear® Line 30-603 and Pilkington Pyroclear® 60-603 can be used in full height screen applications at a current maximum individual pane width of 1.4m and are supplied with all associated materials including sealant, glazing tape and fixings.
