Edgetech is the only dedicated manufacturer of Warm Edge Technology in the UK. To ensure its products met the increasingly demanding end user’s requirements for energy efficient products and future proofed against more stringent legislation, NorDan conducted extensive academic research into the Whole Life Analysis of its products compared to the alternatives.NorDan’s NTech Low Energy and Passive ranges came out on top.
"Our products achieve fantastic whole window U-Values of 1.2 W/m2k and 0.7 W/m2k respectively. We can do this with our highly efficient and environmentally friendly insulation board which can be laminated into pine sections, along with Edgetech’s Super Spacer Warm Edge Technology. Torquil Murchison, Regional Sales Manager of NorDan explains: "This combined technology has recently won recognition in the Building Sustainability Awards when installed in the Barratt Green House. Achieving the top prize for Sustainable Building of the Year (small project) 2008, the three storey, three bedroom home, which meets level six of the code for sustainable homes, is now at BRE’s Innovation Park in Watford.
NorDan windows with Super Spacer inside will feature in three of the six properties in this development. "NorDan was chosen for this project because we were one of the few companies that could offer such a low overall window U-Value. But we don’t simply operate on U-Values. Again with our own innovative technologies and the high performance Super Spacer we have also achieved an A +4 rating according to the British Fenestration Ratings Council.
While Specifiers and Architects understand U-Values, Window Energy Ratings are more easily recognisable for the general public, which is an important selling tool for us in our work with house builders." Alan Fielder, Director of Sales and Marketing for Edgetech comments: "It’s great to work with such forward thinking companies as NorDan who are willing to invest time and money into doing the right thing for their customers.
Sustainability is such a key issue for the public sector, house builders and homeowners alike, to be at the forefront of sustainable practices is a fantastic advantage for NorDan to have over its competitors."
