Architects looking for ways of achieving an enhanced thermal performance from structurally glazed façades will welcome the new Stainless Steel Spacer Tube from Schüco International, Europe’s leading specialist in façade, window and door systems and solar energy products.

The new optional spacer tube means that load-bearing insulating units in structurally glazed façades can be made gas-tight to EN 1279-3. The benefit of this is that the units can be filled with argon thereby significantly lowering overall ‘U’ values and making it easier for architects to meet Building Regs Part L guidelines on energy efficiency.

Manufactured in one piece with just one joint and requiring no surface finishing, the Schüco Stainless Steel Spacer Tube has the added advantage of being comparable in cost to a conventional aluminium spacer, despite offering the possibility of a higher specification.
