An ambitious project

Moscow will soon have an urban centre with a skyline rivalling those of Chicago and Shanghai. Moscow-City is Russia's most ambitious architectural project ever - and certainly one of the biggest collections of skyscrapers in the world.

The gargantuan architectural complex currently under construction covers nearly 100 hectares, equivalent to 1,000 Olympic-size pools. Nearly €10 billion will be invested in the construction of some 20 skyscrapers, all vying to outdo each other in terms of height and glazed surface area. The project includes more than 2.5 million square metres of office space, apartments, hotels, shopping centres and leisure facilities, as well as a transport terminal.

This unique project - incorporating the latest architectural trends whilst reflecting the greatness of old Moscow and the impressive Kremlin - is the work of multiple architects from around the world.

Glaverbel: a key supplier

As the leading glass producer in Russia, Glaverbel was selected for this complex project due to its technical expertise in major international projects and its broad range of high-quality glasses.

So far, Glaverbel has received orders for no fewer than 160,000 square metres of glass to glaze the first buildings: Tower 2000, North Tower and Naberezhnaya Towers (see photos). These three towers are all different sizes, with the tallest rising some 243 metres and boasting 58 floors. All three are clad entirely in coated* double glazing combining a Sunergy Azur solar protection glass and a TopN glass with enhanced thermal insulation, two best-sellers from Glaverbel's range of high-performance products.

*Coated glass: These nearly invisible coatings are applied to the base glass, endowing it with specific aesthetic, insulating and/or solar control properties.
