Date: 14 April 2015

The Maeda MC285 CRM-2 spider crane is new to the Hird mini crane hire fleet and is already proving its worth on a range of lifting projects with our customers.

Maeda is world-renowned for producing robust, highly capable mini cranes, and this small footprint crawler crane is no exception. This spider crane is compact and flexible enough to be moved into position for lifts at almost any location – yet still has a maximum lifting capacity of 2.82 tonnes.Ideal for indoor or outdoor liftingThe Maeda MC285 mini crane shared the same capability of all Maeda spider cranes, of being able to lift loads at a relatively high radius, at low tip height. An optional 850kg searcher hook gives it additional up and over lifting capability. This makes this mini crane ideal for working in indoor environments, or where there are overhead restrictions.Examples are working in factories for machinery maintenance, or building and facility management.

The Maeda MC285 spider mini crane is also proving its worth with Hird’s glass lifting and installation customers, where the ability to switch seamlessly between indoor and outdoor applications is a major plus.

Lifting in confined spaces with complete safety

At only 750mm wide, the Maeda MC285 mini crane is narrow enough to move through a standard door when in transport mode. Then it can be quickly moved into position and made ready for a lift.

Its compact and relatively light-weight design means the spider crane can quickly be lifted into position for working on high rise buildings.

A level indicator aid is just one of its quick set-up and safety features. The mini crane also has load indicator and programmable moment limiter safety system fitted as standard.

The spider crane can be controlled from a seated operator position or by remote control, using a digital display.

Right mini crane for right lifting project

Our mini crane hire fleet gives customers a range of lifting options that ensure the right machine is available for the right project.

In the past, some crane hire companies supplied the machines they had available – and that often meant a large crane for a relatively small load.

This approach risked compromising safety and added unnecessary cost.

With machines like the Maeda 285 spider crane available, lift capability can be matched perfectly to load requirements, increasing the efficiency and sustainability of the lifting project.

The Maeda 285 mini crane is available on standard mini crane hire terms or for a contract lift.

Hird can provide fully-trained mini crane operators, experienced in operating in all sectors, including building maintenance, machinery moving or construction.
