Vishwakarma, President of the 'All India Glass Manufacturers' Federation' AIGMF, Sanjay Somani, CEO of Hindustan National Glass along with Werner M. Dornscheidt, President and CEO of Messe Durseldorf GmbH, Lord Mayor Dirk Elbers opened the first GLASSPEX INDIA in New Delhi.
The Chairman of the Messe Dulseldorf GmbH Supervisory Board emphasized the economic significance of the sub-continent for the German and European export industry and referred to the growth opportunities for the Indian glass sector over the coming decades.
He added that in this context it is expected that revenue in India will triple in the next 20 years, the real estate market will grow by 30 percent and the pharmaceuticals market could grow at a rate of 12 to 13 percent. All these economic sectors glass plays an outstanding role, Elbers emphasized.
There are also enormous market opportunities resulting from the Indian plan of action on climatic change, which involves the development of solar energy from the current two megawatt level to 20,000 megawatts in 2020. Here Elbers commented: That is why the special show at GLASSPEX on the theme of solar energy generation will offer a sustainable value added for exhibitors and visitors alike.
With GLASSPEX INDIA Messe Durseldorf is extending its business operations in India and adding a further member to its glass product family. At GLASSPEX INDIA a total of 135 companies are presenting their innovations to an expected 4,000 visitors.
In the process they are being supported by Messe Durseldorf, which has been active in India for more than 25 years and with its know-how as the organizer of the world's leading trade fair for the glass industry, glasstec in Durseldorf, brings the glass sector together every two years. Dirk Elbers: in 2008, already celebrating its 40th anniversary, glasstec attracted more than 1,300 exhibitors and 55,000 visitors from over 90 countries to the Rhine and in 2010 will be extended to include solarpeq - International Trade Fair for Solar Production Equipment.
With its commitment in India Messe Durseldorf GmbH is making a direct contribution to the trade fairs held at its home base in Durseldorf. In this connection, in the last five years, Durseldorf has attracted 1,204 exhibitors and 47,500 visitors from India, double the figure of just 10 years previously.
