TWINSBURG, Ohio, Oct. 26, 2011  /PRNewswire/ -- L.J. Star Inc., the leading provider of process observation equipment, shows the strength and performance of its Metaglas® fused sight glass  in its latest online tutorial video.

It documents an impact test on a sight glass under 3,300psi – more than twenty times the pressure of a typical sight glass application – and shows the amazing strength of a borosilicate glass fused to a stainless steel ring.

In this dramatic two-minute video, the pressure is slowly increased to 870psi. Glass failing at this pressure would be extremely dangerous to workers and would damage equipment and interrupt production. Pressure is then increased to 3,300 psi before a steel projectile strikes the sight glass with seven foot pounds of force.

The remarkable results can be viewed at: www.ljstar.com/pubs/40.htm

The stainless steel ring of the Metaglas fused sight glass holds the glass in high compression. Constructed of borosilicate glass, Metaglas remains intact and leak tight. These unique materials give Metaglas more compression and therefore the highest strength of any sight glass. Proven in thousands of applications, Metaglas is the #1 selling sight glass and an ideal choice for critical process applications.
