The bill, introduced last week in the House and last month in the Senate, would amend a portion of the federal stimulus plan giving homeowners a tax credit for making energy-efficient improvements. As the stimulus now stands, homeowners installing new windows, doors and skylights can get a tax credit of 30 percent of the cost of the project, up to a total of $1,500. But the tax credit is available only on certain products.
