New manager for Gimav, the Italian Manufacturers’ Association of Machinery, Accessories and Special Products for Glass Processing.   Appointed in May 2014, Laura Biason will promote member companies working alongside Gimav Director Renata Gaffo.

Her task will mainly be to attend leading international appointments for the glass industry, interact with the main Italian and overseas institutes and strengthen initiatives aimed at increasing the association’s prestige.

A Computer Engineering graduate from the Polytechnic of Turin, and an expert in company engineering and communication, Laura Biason has always worked on giving support to companies. She started out in 1995, at the Unione Industriale of Turin and joined the National Confindustria (Italian organization representing manufacturing and services companies) in 2000, dealing with technologies, growing association membership and giving support to affiliated associations.

As a result of her achievements she was appointed the director of Confindustria Messina in 2010. She succeeded in growing membership, optimizing activities, and upping the prestige and visibility of the association locally and nationwide as a result of her ongoing networking activity and the new initiatives that were put forward. «By enlisting Laura Biason we feel that we have added one of the best experts on the market to our ranks, the best person to build Gimav activities for its member companies. She stands out because of her strategic mindset and track record in delivering services to companies, public and in-house relations, growing the functions and prestige of the organizations where she has worked » - stated Gimav Director Renata Gaffo.

This expertise will definitely bring excellent results to the special Made in Italy branch of industry that Gimav represents: a high-tech, highly specialized niche sector made up of internationall-yrecognized leading companies with a very strong export drive (where overseas sales account for about 80% of revenues).

Gimav is the Association of Italian manufacturers and suppliers of machinery, equipment and special products for glass processing. Set up in 1980 by a small group of businessmen, Gimav plays a fundamental role in the entire glass industry both nationally and internationally.

As a member of Confindustria, Federvarie and Federmacchine, during its 34 years of activity, Gimav has considerably strengthened its representative presence in the entire glass processing industry and now plays an indispensable role in relations with all private and public institutions. The sales volume of Gimav member companies, accounts for approx. 80% of the industry's total turnover and for 77% of total exports by Italian manufacturers of machinery, accessories and special products for glass processing.
