insulbar was awarded the Cradle to Cradle Material Health Certificate for its sustainability. The plastic profile provides thermal separation in metal frames of windows, doors and facades, thus increasing the energy efficiency of buildings.

insulbar receives Cradle to Cradle Material Health Certificates Ensinger's thermal insulation profiles for metal frameworks of windows, doors and façades not only increase the energy efficiency of buildings.

They also meet highest sustainability standards: tested according to the demanding criteria of the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, insulbar was awarded with a Material Health Certificate at the silver level for the variant ESP. The universal insulating profile insulbar REG received gold level.

What makes a product truly sustainable? The German chemist and process engineer Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart, thought leader of the Circular Economy, has found an answer to this question: All ingredients as well as the production must be harmless with regard to the environment and health in order to support a complete return to the resource cycle. The product assessment by testing institutes such as EPEA covers the entire value chain – from cradle to cradle.

"All materials used in the product as well as their chemical constituents are scientifically evaluated in detail during the audit, repeatedly every two years," explains Dr. Michael Möller, Research and Material Development at Ensinger.

"The successful certification according to the Cradle to Cradle Material Health procedure documents our commitment to innovation, transparency and sustainability – and that of our customers, who use insulbar to enhance their windows, doors and facades."

insulbar REG was awarded with gold level in the product category Material Health. The glass-fibre reinforced and extremely durable universal profile is suitable for all common metal frame profiles.

Silver level in Material Health went to insulbar ESP, a special profile made of electrostatically optimized material supporting efficient powder coating.

Like the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), as already available e.g. for insulbar RE, the Cradle to Cradle Material Health Certificate allows for additional points for the certification of buildings, e.g. according to LEED.
