Hegla and Bystronic glass - a new era dawns

Date: 10 October 2012

The preferred partnership co-operation between Hegla and Bystronic glass announced in January this year has led to the introduction of new measures and taken progressive steps forward to offer the industry the best in terms of optimum performance and service.

At glasstec 2012, Hegla UK will assume responsibility for sales of both Bystronic glass and Hegla machinery throughout the UK and Ireland.Bystronic glass UK retains responsibility for installation and after sales service on the complete range of Bystronic glass equipment whilst progressively integrating with Hegla UK in relation to installation and after sales support.

The amalgamation of a unified sales and service presence in the UK comes after negotiation between senior management at both companies here and at the respective head offices in Germany.

Whilst the companies will retain their autonomy as brand manufacturers, the fusion of the sales and service roles for the UK is considered the most viable route forward to secure growth and future sales.

The roles are clearly defined: Steve Goble, Managing Director Hegla UK, will be responsible for the sales of both Hegla and Bystronic glass machinery across the UK and Ireland. Steve Powell, MD Bystronic glass UK, will support him using his contacts in the industry to ensure a smooth transition. He himself, will be responsible for the further development of the after sales and service for Bystronic glass and Hegla machinery in the region.

The pedigree of both Bystronic glass and Hegla are well recognised globally, having established reputations for excellence and reliability within their specialist fields. Existing and potential customers will still have the same quality and service guarantees provided by the respective companies.

This is a confident move forward as sealed unit manufactures can now find complete Cutting, Sorting and IG solutions, together with associated handling and racking equipment as well as Laminated Glass Manufacturing equipment all under one roof, which is a positive change for the better for everyone.

Steve Goble comments, “In challenging times it is important to take stock and evaluate the best route to move ahead, not just as a business but in respect of market trends and customer demands.”

He concludes, “Whilst this is not a merger of companies, it is a logical and progressive step for today’s market. The UK and Ireland is a unique market and as such we have been working closely with Bystronic glass to ensure we can provide improved customer satisfaction and believe the innovations, payback and excellence allied to German engineering, service and spares support will motivate investors.”

Steve Powell comments, “We have held several meetings over the last few months, discussing the strengths of the Bystronic glass and Hegla brands. From these it was clear that both companies are now in a position to offer comprehensive solutions to the market. Also, equally important, will be the two companies installation and after sales support which will progressively move together to offer unparalleled support to existing and new customers.”
