Date: 14 November 2013

Architectural Products Magazine has cast a spotlight on the diversity and leadership of Guardian Industries’ products and services by awarding the company with three 2013 Product Innovation Awards.

The judges chose: Guardian Glass Analytics suite of tools in the building envelope category Guardian Reveal switchable glass in the surface category  Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral 62 and the Chihuly Glasshouse in the project application category “Guardian is committed to delivering advanced glass products and tools that give architects and designers cutting-edge solutions with a competitive edge,” said Chris Dolan, director of Commercial Glass Marketing for Guardian Industries. “We’re honored that for the third consecutive year, the judges identified Guardian as an innovator in the industry.” Guardian Glass Analytics is a comprehensive suite of engineering and analytical tools for glass applications led by the new Guardian BIM Generator and including the Guardian Performance and Energy Calculators.Together these software simulation resources create an industry-leading workflow to analyze the impacts of glazing and demonstrate the value of high performance glass products.

Guardian Reveal exhibits another kind of high performance: The interior glass product uses switchable technology to bring new versatility to interior and architectural designs. It transitions from transparent clarity to serene privacy in a single click, providing seclusion as needed for environments such as a hotel room or office conference area.

The Chihuly Glasshouse in Seattle invites clear views inside and out for visitors to the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibition. Designed by Owen Richards Architects, the project uses Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral 62. This low-E coating met the project’s energy, transparency, wind and structural requirements while providing the transparency required for the breathtaking art installation.

“Building on the success of last year’s program, our third edition of the awards proves commercial building manufacturers are committed to, and are working arduously toward, delivering more sustainable products, as well as products that deliver better performance, life and affordability,” said Jim Crockett, editorial director of Architectural Products. The award winners will appear in the November issue.

Architectural Products is a leading publication for the architectural and design community. The Architectural Products Product Innovation Awards (PIAs) determine and honor innovation in the development and refinement of buildings-related products that range the gamut from cladding systems to interior finishes. Judged by a group of 50 independent industry professionals, the program represents a mechanism to impartially review product and present to readers items their peers found innovative and worth investigating.
