A hotspot for a new generation emerges on the Strip - The Las Vegas Strip ushered in a new generation of hotel and casinos with the grand opening of SLS Las Vegas.

Guardian SunGuard AG 50 and SunGuard SNR 43 contribute to the appeal, providing the exterior glazing for the glass making up the buildings arresting façade."Arial">The SLS Las Vegas is the result of the transformation of the Rat Pack-era Shara Hotel. The new facility is an ultramodern boutique hotel and casino reminiscent of Hollywood Boulevard and The Sunset Strip.

Designed by RCDF Studio, a Los Angeles-based architectural firm, Las Vegas’ newest property on the northern strip features the next genereation in glass performance. Guardian SunGuard SNR 43 features a super-low solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.23 on clear float glass and a 1.88 light-to-solar gain (LSG) ration. Its neutral colol provides a light silver exterior appearance and medium reflectivity that brings the glass to life. SunGuard AG 50 also adds high visible light transmission with medium reflectivity and excellent solar control to this iconic hotel.

The use of two different glazing products for one project illustrates a growing trend by architects to examine the solar control and subsequent building energy management and select the best high performance, low-E products to contribute to those goals. The glass was fabricated by Guardian Select Fabricator Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, and installed by Guardian Glazier Connection Member Heinaman Contract Glazing.

The SLS Las Vegas features 1,600 rooms, an 80,000 square foot casino, nearly a dozen restaurants and nightclubs, meeting spaces and 10,000 square feet of retail.

Guardian SunGuard advanced architectural glass and Glass Analytics provide façade solutions that allow architects and designers to explore the aesthetic and functional possibilities of building with light while meeting complex energy, daylighting and LEED requirements.
