This assortment includes four sizes of product available to the comsumer in “project” sizes. SolarGuard has been available to the contractor market for seven years.
SolarGuard Reflective Insulation is a revolutionary product that protects the home or structure by reflecting up to 97% of radiant heat. The three-layer product has highly reflective aluminum foil surrounding a one-quarter-inch fiberglass core. In addition to being lightweight and easy to install without the itch or mess, SolarGuard reduces hot wall problems, reduces ice damming and cuts energy consumption.
With consumer concern over rising energy costs to cool and heat homes, SolarGuard provides an economical solution to reduce leaks and infiltration of warm air. SolarGuard protects against the three main types of heat loss and gain: convection, conduction and radiation. It is recommended to use SolarGuard in the attic under the roof truss or roof deck, on kneewalls, in crawl spaces, on basement walls and underneath fiberglass batts in the walls.
According to Dermot Ennis, vice president of SolarGuard, “The product has great application in a number of different situations. To most people insulation is an afterthought. However, customers that have used SolarGuard marvel at the results, and in many cases end up selling friends and neighbors on the benefits of using SolarGuard Reflective Insulation. It is a cost-effective solution to helping create a more energy-efficient home.”
As an insulation product, SolarGuard purchases are eligible for the 10% tax credit (up to a maximum of $500 in the combined tax years of 2006 and 2007) under the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
