Guardian to Present Its Next Generation of Thermal Insulation Glass for Residential Applications at Glasstec

Date: 16 October 2014

Guardian Europe unveils ClimaGuard® Premium2 and ClimaGuard Premium2 T - a new generation of thermal insulation glass for residential applications - at Glasstec, Oct. 21-24 in Dusseldorf.

These new high performance glass products combine intelligent energy management with high light transmission and solar heat gain.

Energy efficiency is important when it comes to window glazing and new regulations in the European Union are pushing this requirement even further. At the same time, homeowners are requesting a high level of light transmission and an ultimate solar heat gain for thermal insulating windows. Guardian’s new products combine these three criteria in an optimal way.

Guardian ClimaGuard Premium2 offers an exceptional level of light transmission. The result is a higher amount of natural daylight for the home, reducing the need for artificial lighting. Particularly remarkable is its high performance in triple glazing: 74 percent of visible light is transmitted. A colour rendering index of 97 percent for triple and 98 percent for double glazing provides high level of transparency without disruptive reflections.

At the same time, the thermal insulating glass scores with a high solar heat gain due to its great level of isolation. An Ug-value of 0.6 W/m²K in triple and of 1.1 W/m²K in double glazing enables an outstanding level of energy saving. This makes ClimaGuard Premium2 especially suitable for applications in passive house and low-energy constructions.

“ClimaGuard Premium2 excels through superior performance. With this thermal insulating glass, energy management in residential buildings moves to a new dimension,” says Ralf Greiner, Architectural Glass Manager, Guardian Industries.

ClimaGuard Premium2 is available in annealed and temperable version (Premium2 T) on Guardian ExtraClear® float glass and Guardian Lamiglass® and with glass thicknesses from 4 to 10 mm.
