Guardian Fiberglass Breaks Ground On New Fiberglass Insulation Plant

Date: 19 October 2007

Guardian Fiberglass, Inc. broke ground today on a new manufacturing plant in Moses Lake, Washington. Gov. Christine Gregoire joined Guardian representatives for the official announcement.

The new facility will manufacture Guardian’s full line of fiberglass insulation products for residential and commercial applications. The 500,000 square foot state-of-the-art plant will include manufacturing and warehousing. Initially, the plant will create 130 new jobs for the region. The plant will have capacity to run two lines.

According to Duane Faulkner, President of Guardian Building Products, Inc., Guardian Fiberglass’s parent company, “We needed a manufacturing facility in the Pacific Northwest to service prospective and existing customers. The Grant County Economic Development Council and the State of Washington Economic Development Council were tremendously helpful once we had determined that Washington State was a viable option for Guardian.”

“Guardian Industries – a large company with a solid reputation around the world – is building a factory right here in Moses Lake, bringing high-paying jobs to Washington,” said Washington Governor Chris Gregoire. “The company’s decision to build in our state is testament to one thing: Washington is open for business.”

Moses Lake was selected as the site of the plant because of the availability of suitable land, reasonable utility rates, reliable power supplies, a quality work force, and proximity to major transportation lanes. In addition, Moses Lake already has a sophisticated manufacturing community.

Actual construction will begin February 2008. The plant is expected to begin production in mid-2009.
