GPD and InterAutoGlass team up to promote autoglass issues

Date: 29 May 2008

Glass Performace Days and the International Automotive Glass Federation announce their cooperation in the promotion of automotive glass issues for the benefit of the global market.

As a practical first effort InterAutoGlass will join the program committee putting together the agenda for the upcoming Glass Performance Days in 2009.

”We welcome the input of InterAutoGlass resources for the continued development of our coverage of automotive glass issues at the GPD”, says Jorma Vitkala, Chairman of the Organizing Committee. ”We expect to benefit from this cooperation particularly in view of the increasing use of glass as a key component in cars. The properties of glass including the application of electronics and the increasing role of repair options are of particular interest”.

InterAutoGlass founded in December 2007 now already has member organisations in Japan, the United States and several European countries. The mission of the organization is to draw attention to the issues of common interest to the automotive glass repair and replacement industry, create awareness of the important role of fitters, with a special focus on the safety of car drivers and passengers and to provide a platform for global exchange of information.

”We recognize the GPD as the leading forum for the non-commercial exchange of information on scientific, technical, design and marketing issues in automotive glass”, says Pim de Ridder, Managing Director of InterAutoGlass. ”This applies both original equipment manufacturing and automotive replacement glass. The intention of the GPD to increase its focus on the AGRR-market fits our mission well. Like GPD we address a global market. InterAutoGlass intends to be at the core of all the international elements from automotive glass in general to adhesives and repair systems. Personally I have collected experiences from six GPD-conferences and its huge networking power, excellent seminars, perfect library and offering of a little bit of fun also”, Pim de Ridder says. http://www.gpd.fi
