Gomelsteklo attracts foreign investments to launch new production

At Belarus Investment Forum in London, OAO Gomelsteklo is presenting a project on the setting up of a production of sheet polished glass, BelTA learnt from Anna Kontrova, the head of the foreign and economic activity department of the Belarusian Ministry of Construction and Architecture.





According to her, the new production facility will produce 1.5-3mm and 8-19mm sheet polished glass and also tinted glass. “The cost of the project is $64 million. To carry out the project we would like to attract foreign investors and loans,” Anna Kontrova said.



The new production will use the up-to-date foreign developments dealing with the production of sheet glass. It will become one of the most up-to-date sheet glass production in the post-Soviet area, specialists note.



OAO Gomelsteklo is the biggest European manufacturer of hardened glass. The company makes polished glass, double glass, hardened glass and cellular glass. Gomelsteklo produces more than 18 million square metres of sheet polished glass a year. The company exports about 70% of its products to 25 countries. Gomelsteklo employs 3.6 thousand professionals.
