Glass Stress, one of the collateral events of the 53. International Art Exhibition in Venice, is the exhibition that gathers the experiences with glass of a series of contemporary international artists, aiming to gauge the relationship between the artist and this material.

The employment of glass in contemporary art is quite recent; in order to escape from the cliché that has limited the sphere and the uses of it, glass had to make considerable effort, exactly the “stress” evoked in the title. The result is a new expressive language laying on the union between the idea of the artist and the work of the glassmaker.
