Shoppers ran for cover on Saturday as glass fragments rained down on their heads in a Lancaster arcade.The glass, from a panel in the roof of St Nicholas Arcades, shattered and fell to the floor.

Arcade manager, Jerry North said: "We don't know how it happened and are currently undertaking a full investigation.
"Because it was proper safety glass which fragments – rather than falling in a sheet or shards – no-one was injured." The area was cordoned off until the glass was removed but the arcade was kept open and is continuing to trade as normal.
