Folienwerk Wolfen GmbH, with their premium laminating film evguard®, is delighted to announce that Dr.Steffen Bornemann will be sharing a topic about the contribution of various polymeric interlayer films to the safety performance of laminated glasses at different temperatures.
About the speaker:
Steffen Bornemann holds a Ph.D. in Polymer chemistry. After studying chemistry at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg he worked in different positions in the polymer processing industry. Since 2009, he is employed at Folienwerk Wolfen GmbH, a German company producing special polymeric films. Currently, he is responsible for research, development, and quality control. He is involved in several publications and patents in polymer science and applications.
Abstract:
Contribution of the interlayer films to the safety properties of the laminated safety glass at different temperature conditions
One of the key properties of laminated glass is safety at different temperature conditions. In recent times, global demand for laminated safety glass over a broad temperature application kept on emerging, specifically in the areas of automotive, electronic devices and architecture.
There are a handful number of studies, which show the performance of different type of interlayers at the ambient condition. However, based on the type of interlayers, these performances can have a significant positive or negative effect from the exposure to varying temperatures from ambient conditions.
There are several international standards in the glass industry to evaluate the safety performance of laminated glass and the corresponding interlayers. In the article, the contribution of various polymeric interlayer films to the safety performance of laminated glasses at different temperatures will be discussed.
