However, Glass Alliance Europe is deeply concerned that the 2030 GHG emission objective for the industrial sector covered by the EU ETS (-43%) is disconnected from their actual emission reduction potential on the basis of best available technologies.Against this backdrop, Glass Alliance Europe wishes to highlight the urgent need to reconcile the EU climate, energy and industrial policies as this is the basis to ensure the re-industrialization of Europe and secure the competitiveness of our industry. To that end, Glass Alliance Europe urges Member states to call on the Commission: To set a binding re-industrialisation target to increase the share of industry in the EU GDP from 16% to 20% by 2020, in order to send a clear political signal of support to European industry.Indeed, since the crisis started, it is estimated that 3 million industrial jobs were lost, and that EU industrial production has decreased by more than 10%. There is therefore an urgent need to support industry.
