An interesting supporting programme also creates numerous opportunities for obtaining information and promotes interaction between manufacturers and visiting professionals. Details on the supporting programme are available online at www.frontale.de/supportingprogramme.
Window and facade manufacturers, carpenters, architects and the trade gather in Nürnberg every two years to update on the latest profile systems, prefabricated units, glass in architecture, fixing equipment, safety equipment, machines, installations and many other products. The list of exhibitors at fensterbau/frontale reads like the Who’s Who of the international sector, and the biennial trade fair in Nürnberg is also the event at which the globally operating companies present their new products to the public..
But visitors not only find interesting innovations on the large stands – a visit to smaller exhibitors can also reveal exciting discoveries. For example, it’s worth dropping by at the young innovative companies pavilion in hall 1, where five exhibitors present clever solutions under one roof in the pavilion sponsored by the Bundesamt für Wirtschaft und Ausfuhrkontrolle (BAFA – Federal Office of Economics and Export Control). These range from roller shutters that also function as blinds, energy-efficient windows and doors, solar protection and slatted systems, and installation tools to order management and document management.
“Vibrant research – for vibrant lives”…
… is the motto of this year’s special show organized jointly by ift Rosenheim, the Fachverband Glas, Fenster, Fassade Baden-Württemberg (Glass, Window and Facade Association), NürnbergMesse and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety. The show area on stand 1-614 in hall 1 presents current research projects from the field of transparent building envelopes, such as photobioreactors for power generation in the facade, prototypes of a new particularly filigree and energy-efficient window design and an “Experimenting street” for visitors’ own research.
An ift seminar parallel to the special show will examine research in depth. On Wednesday, 26 March, from 14:00 to 17:00, the congress on “Vibrant research – for vibrant lives” in the Athen room of NCC Mitte deals with the results of current projects of the “Zukunft Bau Research Initiative”. The projects are devoted to questions concerning the transparent building envelope. After this there will be an opportunity for intensive discussions with the speakers and other exhibitors at the special show at a get-together in the special show area in hall 1. On Thursday, 27 March, from 11:00 to 13:40, the congress on “Energy efficiency in Europe” provides information on current developments at European level, such as the implementation of EPBD, a possible energy label and the preparatory study currently in progress on the implementation of the Ecodesign Directive for windows. Finally, new groundbreaking developments from companies will be presented at the “Companies Day” from 10:00 to 13:00 on Friday, 28 March. The constantly updated programme and further information are available online at www.ift-rosenheim.de/en/fensterbaufrontale.
The best young tradesmen: MeisterAward 2014
From 16:30 to 18:00 on Friday, 28 March, the focus on the special show stand in hall 1 is on the best young tradesmen in the glass, window and facade sector in the last two years. The “MeisterAward” organized by the Fachverband Glas Fenster Fassade Baden-Württemberg is presented for outstanding theoretical and practical examination results achieved by management trainees during their training as master glaziers at the Fachschule für Glas-, Fenster- und Fassadenbau (College of Glass, Window and Facade Construction), Karlsruhe. The winners receive certificates, commendations and prizes worth a total of almost 10,000 euros. An award is also presented to the winner of the skills competition for young tradesmen in window and glass facade construction, i.e. the best apprentice in the training year 2013.
Pioneering: Automation and Architects’ Area
A blue logo and a red logo at fensterbau/frontale 2014 show specific target groups the way to two decentralized special shows and help to make their visit more efficient.
The blue logo for “Window and Facade Automation”, an initiative of fensterbau/frontale in cooperation with the Marketing Automation Working Group of the Verband Fenster + Fassade (VFF – Window and Facade Association), shows manufacturers, component suppliers, planners and architects opportunities for building development. More and more buildings will be equipped with automated elements in the future. Besides the increased customer satisfaction – the major aspects here are considerably increased living and working comfort, higher energy efficiency of buildings and improved protection against burglars – manufacturers, component suppliers and partners can generate additional lucrative sales.
Many exhibitors at fensterbau/frontale 2014 present solutions and show their know-how in the field of building automation. Windows offer an incredible number of features: they provide pleasant daylight, bring free solar heat into the building, replace the air, keep out noise, protect against the cold and prevent uninvited guests. All these functions are not available at the same time, however. The windows must first be opened to let in fresh air, and the sun only shines in if the roller shutters are up. The classic way of doing this is on foot – or much easier by pushing a button. There are many possibilities for enriching life with automated elements: for example, old windows and doors can be retrofitted or new products fitted with these elements already preinstalled.
The red logo for the Architects’ Area shows architects and building planners the relevant exhibitors in the halls at fensterbau/frontale. On the stands marked with this logo, they obtain special information material and expert answers to their specific questions on windows, doors and facades.
The logo for each of the two initiatives can be found on the stands, in the exhibition catalogue, in the Exhibition Guide and on the industry platform on the Internet at www.frontale.de/exhibitors-products.
Forum Architecture and Innovation Award
In combination with the Architects’ Area, the Forum Architecture at fensterbau/frontale on the morning of the second day, Thursday, 27 March, offers an unusual information and presentation programme exclusively for architects – now for the 7th time. Here top speakers present the themes of the trade fair in an overarching context. This year’s Forum Architecture under the title of ART IN ARCHITECTURE is devoted to the mutual relationships between art and architecture.
The “Innovation Award for Architecture+Windows Doors Facades” will again be presented to exhibitors at fensterbau/frontale as part of the Forum Architecture. The winners are chosen by well-known architects, interior designers and engineers. The jury visits the exhibitors taking part on their stands, so they have the opportunity to explain the most innovative aspects of their products. The entries are presented in a poster show in NCC Ost.
Innovation and Energy – Efficiency Swiss Style
Bern University of Applied Sciences is present on stand 5-303 in hall 5 with information on the latest research projects. For the second time, it is organizing two seminars at fensterbau/frontale in Nürnberg as part of the “Taste of Windays” seriestogether with the leading Swiss associations in the sector – Schweizerische Zentrale Fenster und Fassaden SZFF and Schweizerischen Fachverband Fenster- und Fassadenbranche FFF.
“Innovations from Switzerland” are covered in three presentations from 10:30 to 12:30 on Thursday, 27 March, in the Budapest room of NCC Ost. The titles of the presentations are “Glass bonding 2.0 – prospects for exterior bonding”, “Window tools – thin coating, big effect” and “Burglary prevention with slim wood-aluminium windows – results of FFF project”. And “Energy Efficiency Swiss Style” is dealt with in the same place at the same time on Friday, 28 March. Besides “Glass bonding 2.0 – prospects for exterior bonding”, two other presentations provide information on “Energy-saving renovation of windows worthy of preservation – a new calculation tool” and the “Balance sheet consideration of windows – energy label for Switzerland”.
