Energy-efficient Reflective Glass

Date: 12 February 2013

The Central Bureau of Investigation headquarters might just find itself at the center of attention, thanks to the swanky new look it has recently acquired.

The eleven-storeyed contemporary glass building is unlike the typical mundane structure that government offices have come to be associated with. The glass facade brings a rare elegance to the building, bearing the Saint-Gobain trademark, and making it stand out from the conventionally designed offices.

SGG Cool-Lite is the glass that has been predominantly used in the CBI building. It is a reflective glass with Nano coating, and comes with highly advanced energy-efficiency properties. SGG Cool-Lite complies with LEED and ECBC regulations, making it one of the most sought-after solar control glass solutions in its class. What makes it so preferred is that it helps in cutting the external heat and allows optimum light to pass through the glazed facades, thus contributing to reduce external cooling and artificial lighting bills. The Deep Green variant (ST 408) of SGG Cool-Lite has been used for this building.

Located at New Delhi, the CBI headquarters has been built by the National Buildings Construction at an estimated cost of INR 186 crores. Designed by Raja Aederi Consultants, the fabricating services of Glaze Techno have been deployed. An IGBC-certified building, it is said to be modeled after the Interpol Headquarters at Lyons, France. Housing over 2000 employees, the energy-efficient glass building extends a fine environment to work in.

With the CBI Headquarters, Saint-Gobain Glass has created a new style statement that deviates from the stereotype. It has proved that government buildings need not look boring, conservative and behind their times. The extensive use of glass and the stylish glass facade have reinstated that these buildings can now have a class of their own!
