Energy efficiency is theme of Schueco's stand at EcoBuild

Date: 4 February 2013

Visitors to Ecobuild 2013 (5-7 March, ExCel Centre, London) who want to view the latest advances in energy-efficient façade, window and door systems will find a host of solutions on the stand (S310) of Britain’s leading building envelope specialist, Schueco UK Limited.

This year, Schueco UK is demonstrating how the impressive thermal values routinely achieved by its highly-engineered aluminium and steel systems can help architects, main contractors and fabricator partners construct buildings that meet or exceed the ever-stricter energy-saving guidelines included in Part L of the Building Regulations. As an example of this, visitors can see the Schueco ERC 50 Renovation Façade (complete with a Schueco AWS 70.BS window), which allows an old commercial or residential building to be refurbished to a high thermal standard without the need for the occupants to move out. An accompanying film demonstrates the various steps in the process.

Also on the stand are three of Schueco’s sliding and folding door systems, one of which – designated the ASS 77 PD – is a 'panoramic' sliding door capable of accommodating very wide openings (leaf sizes up to 3.5 m wide and 3.4 m high). It can be specified with varying levels of thermal insulation. Both this and the ASS 80 FD folding door are premium products ideally suited for high-end residential and commercial buildings.

The third door system on display is the Schueco ASS 70.HI which delivers class-leading 'U' values ranging from 1.6 W/m2K with double-glazing, down to 1.3 W/m2K with triple-glazing. With a low threshold height of only 48 mm, stylish ergonomic handles, leaf weights up to 300 kg and security up to Class 2 EN V 1627, this door meets a wide range of specifications.

Other façade systems on show include the VISS Ixtra, a laser-optimised insulated steel system from Schueco Jansen. Developed in conjunction with Montanstahl AG, the façade makes use of innovative connecting technology to provide the structural strength needed to allow mullions to run continuously over more than one storey.

In addition, visitors can see Janisol Arte, a highly-insulated steel slim-line window system designed for the renovation market, which combines structural elegance with impressive 'U' values of 1.6 W/m2K using standard Low 'E' double-glazed units. These values, currently unmatched by any other manufacturer, are the result of advanced technology which successfully combines high-grade steel with a unique thermal-break material.

Other attractions of the Schueco UK stand include a range of peripherals such as handles and hinges and a wall-board showing the different profile surface finishes available, together with a live demonstration of Schueco’s new SchüCal+ software which will create BIM families of all Schueco systems for use within architects’ models.
